Welcome to Zootown Lowdown 2.0 |
Hey there, Missoula!👋🏻
If you've been reading for a while, thank you. You're the reason we rebuilt this. If you're new, welcome to Missoula's Wednesday-morning catch-up.

That means the news worth knowing, what's happening around town, where to eat, a local business worth meeting, a look at the weather ahead, and a shelter dog who'd love to come home with you.
Same Missoula. More to discover.
Two things haven't changed. This is local, written for the people who live here. And it gets better when you're part of it. Know about an event, a new spot or a business doing something great? Hit reply. We read every message.
Let's go. Here's your week. |

Missoula is getting a Whole Foods Market. The grocer will anchor Midtown Market, a new retail development planned for 3333 Brooks Street, where the Brooks Street Motor Inn stands today.
The project is targeting April 2028 and includes more retail space alongside the grocery store. The developers have asked the Missoula Redevelopment Agency for financing to help pay for demolition, a public plaza and utility work.
It also means change for a neighborhood favorite: Great Burn Brewing has to find a new home. The McDonald Avenue brewery, open there for 12 years, says it will keep pouring through the end of 2026.
Here’s what’s planned, who’s behind it and what happens next. Read More... |
More customers now get their answer from an AI summary before they ever click a link. If your business isn’t in that answer, they may never find you.
About 1 in 5 Google searches produced an AI summary in early 2025, Pew Research found, and people clicked regular results about half as often when one appeared.
The good news: Google says no special tricks are needed. The basics matter most: a complete Google Business Profile, clear text on your website and matching details everywhere.
This week’s Missoula Business Hub tip breaks it into three free steps, plus a 10-minute test. Read More... |

He’s 58 pounds of smart and active. He knows “sit” and “down,” comes when called and loves time outside with his people. He’d make a great hiking buddy.
Boone has done well with other dogs and with kids who respect his boundaries, and HSWM shares which homes would suit him best.
Meet him Wednesday–Sunday, 1–6 p.m. at HSWM on Highway 93 South. Here’s everything you need to know about adopting Boone.
