Nestled under the historic Higgins Avenue Bridge, the Missoula Farmers Market enters its 52nd season in 2026, continuing a tradition that has anchored downtown weekends for over five decades.

The season kicks off Saturday, May 2, transforming the parking area under the bridge into a vibrant marketplace every Saturday morning through October 31, drawing thousands of locals and visitors seeking the freshest produce Western Montana has to offer.

The 2026 season brings the return of the Tuesday Night Market for its second year, running 5-7pm from June 2 through September 29 at Caras Park. This evening market caters to working professionals and families who cannot make Saturday mornings, offering live music, food trucks, and approximately 40 vendors. Whether you are an early Saturday shopper hunting peak-season heirloom tomatoes or a sunset visitor exploring the evening market, you will discover why supporting local farmers strengthens both our food system and community bonds.

From rainbow-colored vegetables and fragrant artisan breads to grass-fed meats and handcrafted goods, these markets showcase the region agricultural bounty. Over 100 vendors offer everything from farm-fresh eggs to cut flowers, with the year-round Clark Fork River Market ensuring access to local food even when snow covers the ground.

For four decades, the Riverfront Triangle has stood as a gap-toothed reminder of unrealized potential in downtown Missoula—a nearly two-acre riverfront property that stubbornly resisted development despite six previous attempts.

Deemed blighted in 2007 and designated an urban renewal district in 2008, the site became something of a local legend for its ability to thwart even the most promising development dreams.

That all changed in June 2025 when Whitefish-based Averill Hospitality signed a $4 million deal to finally break ground on the long-troubled property. The seventh attempt succeeded where six others had failed, bringing experienced developers with a track record of successful Montana hospitality projects to transform this vacant lot into vibrant riverfront activity.

The development matters beyond simply filling empty space—it signals confidence in Missoula's future, will bring construction and permanent jobs to downtown, and finally completes a decades-old civic goal. For residents who have watched the vacant lot sit empty for generations, the project represents both progress and the hope that downtown Missoula's best days are still ahead.
