Whole Foods Will Anchor Missoula's New Midtown Market on Brooks Street |
Missoula's first Whole Foods is planned for the Brooks Street Motor Inn site, and the developers are seeking help from the city's redevelopment agency. |

Missoula is getting a Whole Foods Market.
The grocer will anchor Midtown Market, a new retail development planned for 3333 Brooks Street, where the Brooks Street Motor Inn stands today.
The project is targeting April 2028, according to Sterling CRE Advisors, the commercial real estate firm marketing the space.
Whole Foods confirmed the location in a statement to NBC Montana, which first reported the news on Oct. 1.
“We look forward to serving the Missoula community with high-quality natural and organic products,” the company said.
It would be the second Whole Foods in Montana, after the store on West Main Street in Bozeman.
What’s planned
Sterling CRE’s listing describes Midtown Market as a mixed-use retail project with access from both Brooks Street and South Reserve Street.
Besides the Whole Foods anchor, the listing shows two retail buildings with spaces of roughly 2,000 to 6,000 square feet and a third with about 4,000 square feet.
Neither the listing nor news coverage has said how large the Whole Foods store will be, and no other tenants have been named.
What happens next
Sterling CRE and developer Brook McDonald have applied to the Missoula Redevelopment Agency for tax increment financing, NBC Montana reported on Oct. 9.
The money would help pay for demolition, a public plaza, sewer connections, relocating electric utilities and Brooks Street infrastructure.
The agency is expected to consider the request at its Oct. 23 meeting, according to NBC Montana.
What it means for Midtown
The project also displaces Great Burn Brewing, which has operated on McDonald Avenue for 12 years.
The brewery has said it will stay open through the end of 2026 while it looks for a new home in the Midtown and Southside area, NBC Montana reported.
We’ll follow the financing request and report what the redevelopment agency decides.
