A Free Path Into a Real Career

A faith-based nonprofit with locations in Missoula and Stevensville is quietly changing lives — and they still have spots open for their next session.

Summit Career Center (SCC) has been offering tuition-free, six-month career training programs to adults 18 and older across the Bitterroot and Missoula Valleys since 2020.

Applications are open through August 17th, as reported by KPAX.

Who It's For

The program is built for adults of all backgrounds — recent high school graduates, people returning to the workforce, or anyone who has faced setbacks like addiction.

Right now, SCC is especially focused on recruiting recent grads who aren't headed to a four-year college, whether because of cost, family obligations, or simply wanting to work sooner rather than later.

The program is free, which means no student loan debt waiting on the other side.

How the Program Works

The six-month program moves through three phases: personal development first, then job-specific training, and finally hands-on support finding full-time employment.

Graduating from the program actually requires landing a full-time job — that's the finish line.

Students get individualized help with resumes, interview prep, online certifications, and on-the-job training at SCC's facilities in Missoula and Stevensville.

What Makes It Different

Plenty of free certification programs exist, but Summit Career Center puts a heavy emphasis on the personal and professional development side of things — not just handing someone a certificate and sending them out the door.

Staff describe it as helping students break the cycle of low-wage, short-term jobs by identifying and working through the real barriers in the way.

The nonprofit says it has built a reputation with local employers for producing dependable, work-ready graduates — in both Missoula and the Bitterroot Valley.

Career Tracks Available

Current tracks include auto repair technology, medicine, construction, cybersecurity, and more.

The programs are designed around jobs that are actually hiring in the local market right now.
