10 Things to Do in Missoula This Weekend |
From live music to outdoor adventures, here is your guide to making the most of your weekend in Zootown |
Another weekend is here, and Missoula is buzzing with activities. Whether you are looking for live music, outdoor adventures, or family fun, we have rounded up the best events happening around town.
Friday Night Live Music at the Top Hat
Local favorites The Whizpops take the stage at the Top Hat Lounge Friday night. The indie folk band has been a Missoula staple for years, and their energetic live shows always draw a crowd.
Doors open at 8 PM, music starts at 9. Tickets are $12 at the door or $10 in advance through the Top Hat website. This is a 21-plus show.
Saturday Morning Yoga at Caras Park
Start your weekend with some fresh air and stretching. Free community yoga returns to Caras Park Saturday morning at 9 AM.
The class is suitable for all levels, from beginners to experienced yogis. Bring your own mat and water. The session lasts about an hour, leaving you plenty of time to grab coffee downtown afterward.
In case of rain, check their Instagram page for updates. They usually post by 8 AM if the class is canceled.
Missoula Art Museum New Exhibition Opening
The Missoula Art Museum opens its latest exhibition Saturday afternoon. Landscapes Reimagined features contemporary Montana artists interpreting the natural world through various mediums.
The opening reception runs from 2 to 4 PM and includes light refreshments. Admission is always free at MAM, making it a budget-friendly way to spend an afternoon.
The exhibition runs through August, but the opening event is the best time to meet some of the featured artists.
Sunday Brunch at the Wilma
The historic Wilma Theater hosts its monthly Sunday brunch this weekend. The event combines a buffet breakfast with a classic movie screening.
This month features The Big Lebowski, the Coen Brothers cult classic. Doors open at 10:30 AM, and the movie starts at 11:30. The buffet includes breakfast staples plus a build-your-own Bloody Mary bar.
Tickets are $25 and include both the buffet and movie. Reservations are recommended and can be made through the Wilma website.
Get Outside: Trail Conditions Update
If outdoor adventure is more your style, conditions are improving rapidly. The Rattlesnake National Recreation Area trails are mostly dry up to Franklin Bridge.
Mount Sentinel is busy but accessible. Go early to beat the crowds and the afternoon heat. The M Trail offers a quick workout with great views of the valley.
For a longer adventure, consider the Blue Mountain Recreation Area. The south-facing slopes dry out faster and offer panoramic views without the crowds you will find closer to town.
Family Fun at the Montana Natural History Center
The Montana Natural History Center hosts its monthly Family Science Saturday this weekend. The theme is Spring Wildflowers of Western Montana.
Kids can participate in hands-on activities, examine specimens under microscopes, and take home their own wildflower identification guide. The event runs from 10 AM to 2 PM.
Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for kids. Members get in free. No registration required.
Brewery Hopping in the Westside
Missoula's brewery scene continues to grow, and the Westside neighborhood has become a hub for craft beer enthusiasts.
Start at Draught Works for their signature Mexican Lager, then walk to Imagine Nation for a rotating tap list that always includes something experimental. Finish at Conflux, the newest addition, which specializes in Belgian-style beers.
All three are within walking distance and offer food trucks or snacks to keep you fueled.
Sunday Farmers Market Preview
While the main Saturday market gets most of the attention, the Sunday market at the fairgrounds is worth checking out. It runs from 10 AM to 2 PM and features many of the same vendors.
The Sunday crowd is smaller and more relaxed. It is a great option if you prefer a quieter shopping experience or missed the Saturday market.
Look for early spring greens, greenhouse tomatoes, and fresh baked goods from local producers.
Live Comedy at the Roxy Theater
The Roxy Theater hosts its monthly comedy night Saturday. This month features regional comedians from Spokane, Boise, and Billings.
Shows start at 7:30 and 9:30 PM. Tickets are $15, and the theater serves beer and wine. The intimate venue means every seat is close to the action.
Previous shows have sold out, so buying tickets in advance is recommended.
Plan Your Weekend
With so many options, you might have trouble fitting everything in. Our suggestion? Pick one indoor activity and one outdoor adventure to get the full Missoula experience.
Whatever you choose, get out there and enjoy everything Zootown has to offer this weekend. |
